On 20 February, 18 students went to the pond and fen area "Viehmoor" near Leiferde in the district of Gifhorn. Together with Dr Roswitha Kirsch-Stracke, René Hertwig from NaBu Gifhorn and the working group "Viehmoor" (Arbeitsgruppe "Viehmoor"), black alder trees were cut back and the banks of the silted-up former fish ponds were cleared of willow bushes. In the afternoon, the programme included a visit to the UNSA farm (UNSA-Hof) in the old centre of Leiferde, a successful example of the conversion of agricultural farm buildings and the revitalisation of old town centres.
