Zur Metapopulationsstruktur des Roten Scheckenfalters (Melitaea didyma Esper 1779) auf der Schwabischen Alb

Abstract

Thirteen populations of M didyma were selected and studied using mark-recapture methods (individual marking). Dispersal was recorded for 23 (2-3%) marked individuals. The maximal distance covered was 9000 m, the median was 3800 m. Rates of dispersal hardly differed between populations, so he metapopulation structure seems to be a network of discrete but connected populations without higher centres of reproduction.
