Vegetation day hike through the northern Ith 2021

At the Ith ridge near the rocks "Adam and Eve" made of coral oolithe

16 students explored the Ith, a narrow mountain range in the Weser-Leine-Bergland, from Coppenbrügge on June 4. Dr. Roswitha Kirsch-Stracke and M.Sc. student Julian Gick were responsible for preparation and implementation. Plant knowledge was refreshed, vegetation types were learned and the views from the Ith ridge were enjoyed. Furthermore, the early commitment to nature conservation of Ernst and Elisabeth Rudorff, who temporarily lived in Lauenstein, was discussed. All participants were happy to finally experience landscape "in real" together again.

Those who would like to learn more about the Ith and its importance for the history of nature conservation (in Lower Saxony and Germany) can do so in an exhibition created at the IUP: "Ernst und Elisabeth Rudorff. Die Anfänge des Naturschutzes am Beispiel Weserbergland"
