Abstract

Increasingly dynamic markets and shorter product life cycles are forcing companies to adapt their factories through reorganizations continuously. To ensure that such reorganization projects can be successfully implemented, quality management (QM) must be involved in the factory planning process (FAP) at an early stage. In this context, holistic quality management systems (QMS) must be designed to be more agile and responsive to meet shifting requirements. This paper presents an approach for integrating quality management systems into the factory planning process according to guideline 5200 of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). For this purpose, a methodology for identifying interfaces between FAP and QMS in the form of a sequence program is developed and presented. Subsequently, the results derived rom the application of the methodology are presented in a summarized form. Finally, a detailed outlook on the planned work and the objectives to be achieved is given.
